Geoffrey was wounded at Gallipoli and subsequently lost a foot. He was Mentioned in Dispatches for this action. He subsequently joined the fledgeling Royal Flying Corps and later transferred to the RAF. He eventually became an Air Vice Marshall at the end of WWII.
