With a friend prior to embarkation for Gallipoli wearing mandatory Pith helmets for Middle and Far East Service.
The Gallipoli campaign was from April 1915 to Jan 1916. Walter was wounded with shrapnel and sent home for treatment then re-habilitation at Englefield Hospital in Surrey.
